Introducing the Institute Mario Beauregard (IMB)
The IMB is a virtual center dedicated to education, personal transformation and the evolution of consciousness. Founded in Switzerland by Dr Mario Beauregard, the IMB offers conferences, workshops and training courses (face-to-face and distance learning) aimed at exploring the potential of the human mind and its influence on the brain, health, the experience of reality and evolution.
Our mission
The IMB's mission is to contribute to the emergence of a new consciousness, by providing individuals with concrete tools to improve their well-being, optimize their mental capacities and explore the deeper dimensions of their being. The IMB also aims to get involved in research projects related to these themes (in particular, in collaboration with the University of Lausanne).
Our areas of exploration
The IMB focuses on key themes combining science and spirituality, including:
- Neuroplasticity and optimization of mental functions: developing memory, concentration and psychological resilience
- Developing intuition and creativity: accessing states of consciousness that foster innovation and inner clarity
- Self-healing capacity: explore the role of consciousness and mind in overall health and well-being
- Death and the evolution of consciousness: understanding the nature of consciousness beyond the traditional materialistic model
- Holosynthesis©: an integrative approach for harmonizing mind, body and consciousness to promote psychospiritual transformation

Dr. Mario Beauregard, PhD, is a neuroscientist formerly affiliated with the Laboratory for Advances in Consciousness and Health, Department of Psychology, University of Arizona (2013-2022). After obtaining his bachelor's degree in psychology (1985) and his PhD in neuroscience (1992) at the Université de Montréal, he completed two postdoctoral fellowships in experimental neuropsychology, the first at the University of Texas at Houston (1992-1994) and the second at the Montreal Neurological Institute of McGill University (1994-1996). He was also a researcher at the Université de Montréal in the Departments of Psychology and Radiology, and at the Neuroscience Research Centre (1996-2013).

His research into the neuroscience of consciousness earned him selection by World Media Net as one of the “Hundred Pioneers of the 21st Century”. In addition, his groundbreaking work on the neurobiology of emotional self-regulation, consciousness and spiritual experiences has received extensive international media coverage, and his pioneering work has been recognized by a number of honors.
First author of the Manifesto for a Postmaterialist Science (2014), he is a founding member of the Academy for the Advancement of Postmaterialist Sciences (AAPS). Association for the Exploration of Consciousness (APEC)
Exploring consciousness is a challenge for science in the 21st century. It requires an interdisciplinary effort from all contemporary sciences, both natural and human. This effort involves the participation of a broad public, both lay and specialist, on an international scale.
The IMB maintains close links with APEC, a non-profit association founded in 2024 (headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland).
Dr Mario Beauregard helped found the association. Dr. Jacques Besson, psychiatrist, addictologist and Honorary Professor at the University of Lausanne's Faculty of Biology and Medicine, is APEC's President. The other founding members are Christine Fawer Caputo, Associate Professor at the Haute École Pédagogique de Lausanne and Doctor of Education, David Perroud, former international business leader and author of several best-selling novels, and Hélène Rey Ruf, psychologist and psychotherapist. Dr. Fawer Caputo specializes in dealing with illness, death and bereavement in schools; Mr. Perroud is passionate about the noetic sciences (he has a Master's degree in finance from the University of Rochester, NY); as for Ms. Rey Ruf, she practices an integrative approach to psychotherapy (cognitive-behavioral therapy, hypnosis, psychotraumatology, etc.) and also has expertise in altered states of consciousness.
APEC aims to:
- Inform the general public about the progress of interdisciplinary research in the field
- Provide training for interested parties in the various fields concerned
- Promote research in the field through collaboration with universities and relevant institutes
